7 Websites Dog Owners Should Bookmark

Dogs bring us lots of joy, happiness, and fun. Caring for our four-legged friends can be challenging. We are constantly learning how to best care for our pets. Here are seven websites we use often to help us better understand our pups and get valuable information to ensure we are giving them the best lives possible.

  1. American Kennel Club (AKC)

The AKC website is like an encyclopedia for everything related to dogs. Have a question about a particular breed of dog, the AKC will have the answers. Want to know what human foods your dog can eat. The AKC has information on that as well. Basically, if you want to know anything about dogs breeds, foods, ideas for activities, and everything dog-related, the AKC will most likely have the answers.

  2. Animal Poison Control

We love our dogs and want to keep them safe. Learn what is safe for your dog to eat and what common everyday household products and plants may be hazardous for your dogs and what you should do in the event they ingest some of it. Bookmark this in case your pup gets into something they shouldn’t. You can also call their hotline to speak to an expert about what to do if your dog accidentally eats something that is hazardous. There is a cost to call though.

  3. Cesar Way

You have probably heard of renowned dog training Cesar Millan and may have even seen him on TV. Cesar is known for his use of positive reinforcement to help train dogs. If you are looking for tips to train your dog, give the website a visit. There are a ton of helpful articles to help you train your dog.

  4. Ontario SPCA and Humane Society

The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society has an excellent blog that covers a wide range of topics related to caring for your pets. From tips to brushing your dog’s teeth to a list of foods that are harmful to your dogs, the resources available on this site help provide critical information to keep our dogs safe and healthy.

  5. Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)

The Canadian Kennel Club website has a lot of valuable information. For those looking to get a dog, check out their “Choosing a Dog” section for information and advice on how to choose a breed of dog that best suits you and your family. There is a very useful resource page that offers dog owners access to valuable information and tips on how to train, care for, and safety tips for your dog.

    They have fantastic guides available:
