Ontario Parks Are Free On July 15
Spending time in nature is good for our mental and physical health. Some of the proven health benefits of being in nature include decreased stress, reduced mental fatigue, lower blood pressure, and improved social interaction to list a few. But sometimes we need an extra bit of motivation to get outdoors. Thankfully, Ontario Parks is making it easier. On July 15, all Ontario Parks will be offering free day-use permits so people can benefit being in nature. It’s part of the Healthy Parks Healthy People Day initiative, a worldwide movement that works to promote and understand the link between a healthy environment and healthy society.
There are about 330 provincial parks across Ontario that offer opportunities to take in some of the most inspiring and beautiful landscapes in the country. Whether you enjoy hiking, canoeing, kayaking, or mountain biking, there are many parks for you to explore. Find a park near you here.
Several parks will be hosting special events including guided hikes, walks to observe plants and animals, and yoga sessions.
Visitors will still need to book a spot prior to visiting. You can obtain a daily vehicle permit for 33 provincial parks up to five days in advance of your trip using the Ontario Parks reservation system. A day-use permit will get you access to the park, and parking until 10 pm.
Happy exploring!
