My Labour Day Weekend Adventures

Summer is almost over! Labour Day weekend is the final long weekend before we bid farewell to warm sunny weather. Since it was nice out all weekend, we naturally went on some adventures. On Sunday, I visited Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens located in the Port Credit community along the Lake Ontario shore in Mississauga. The park is home to one of Canada’s largest public rhododendron gardens. The paths are lined with a variety of trees. It is a fantastic place for a stroll and to take in nature. There is a small parking lot. But get there early as it fills up quickly. The park has a small rocky beach where you can catch an unobstructed view of the lake and if you are lucky like I was, you may even see a swan or two hanging out in the water. I highly recommend visiting here when you have some time.

Glen Haffy Conservation Area

Just when I thought my weekend couldn’t get any better, I got to visit Glen Haffy Conservation Area. It made me very happy as we got to do one of my most favourite things - hiking. Glen Haffy has several trails. We tackled the red trail on this visit. It is a loop that features elevation changes through a mature forest. The thick canopy shielded us from the sun keeping us nice and cool during our adventure. There are a number of places throughout the walk that was great for photos. So we stopped and took a few. After we completed the trail, we walked around the park and oh boy is it large. I cannot wait to go back.
