The Caledon Trailway Is a Gem
This summer I made a discovery that has greatly changed my life. While out on a drive with my dog, we spotted an entryway for the Caledon Trailway. This 34.3-kilometer trail is accessible year-round and is a popular destination for cycling, walking, and horseback riding. The trail follows the path of an abandoned rail line taking you through the villages of Terra Cotta, Cheltenham, Inglewood, Caledon East, and Palgrave. It is flat for most of the route. There are a few spots where you have to walk up or down small slopes to cross the road to continue on the trail.
Louie and I have been making the Caledon Trailway our weekend hiking route for much of the summer. We have been exploring different stretches of the trail every time we go out. Our goal is to complete the entire trail by autumn. Taking a stroll on the trail is a great way for us to escape the city and disconnect. There are plenty of birds to hear and see as well as occasional turtle sightings. There are a few bridges along the route and most of the trail is covered with trees on both sides offering shade as you walk. The Caledon Trailway is a great place to visit. We hope you get a chance to enjoy it.
