Getting good at fetch

This holiday season, I have been logging hours in the yard improving my fetching skills. The more I play, the better I get. I have never been good with recall, but playing fetch has been a great way for me to learn how to run to my human when called. It has also taught me how to obey other commands like sit and lay down as I sometimes get asked to do that before the ball gets thrown. Fetch has become my favourite game. I look forward to noon when my best friend, Henry, takes his morning break from work and we go outside to play for a half-hour. Weather permitting of course. The cold winter weather makes some of the snow turn into ice, especially on patches where I run along. To help keep me safe while I bolt around the yard, my best human friend has been breaking up the ice and clearing it so I don’t slip and hurt myself. I really appreciate that.

Sometimes in the middle of playing, I get the zoomies and I just sprint from one end of the yard all the way to the wooden gate at the side of the house. It’s always closed for some reason. Probably to keep me safe from big metal four-wheeled things.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Wishing all the pups in the world a wonderful new year!
